Overview of Kuwait capital market
Unparalleled insights of the MENAT region through the lens of HSBC Markets & Securities Services.
HSBC’s presence in the region
HSBC Bank Middle East in Kuwait was one of the first international banks to be established in the country when foreign bank licenses were granted in 2005. HSBC Kuwait commenced operations on 2 October 2005 and was the 10th Middle East market to be added to HSBC’s global DCC network effective from 31 October 2005. Until 2011, we were the sole international custodian in the Kuwait market and as such have been closely associated with the development of the securities market infrastructure in Kuwait. Our Kuwait operation offers a full range of custody and securities services to foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and is currently the largest provider in the market with a very substantial share of assets of FIIs.
